Privacy Policy

This policy explains what CarouselSmith stores about you, why, who processes it for us, and how to delete it. Short version: we keep what we need to make your carousels, we never sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time.
What we store
- Account: your email, name, and sign-in details (via Clerk).
- Brand kit: display name, handle, colors, fonts, and any headshot or logo you upload.
- Carousels: what you typed or pasted, the text of articles you import (and their links), the generated slides, captions, and your edits.
- Downloads: the files you export, kept for 7 days.
- Billing: your plan and subscription status. Payment details stay with Polar.
- Usage: counts of generations, slide rewrites, downloads, and imports (to apply plan limits), plus product analytics and error reports.
How we use it
- To generate, render, save, and deliver your carousels.
- To apply plan limits, prevent abuse, and keep the service secure.
- To understand which features help, and to fix bugs.
- To send account emails (we don't send marketing email without your consent).
We don't use your content to train AI models, and we don't sell or rent your personal data. Your inputs are sent to our AI provider only to generate your carousel.
Who processes it
We use these providers to run the service. Each only gets what it needs for its job:
- Clerk: Sign-in and account management (email, name, login method).
- Neon: Database hosting: your account, brand kit, carousels, and usage records.
- Cloudflare R2: File storage: photos, headshots, and logos you upload, and downloaded files (deleted after 7 days).
- Polar: Payments, tax, invoices, and subscriptions, as merchant of record. We never see your card details.
- AI provider (OpenRouter, routing to Google Gemini models): Writes your carousel from the topic, text, or article you provide.
- PostHog: Product analytics and error tracking (which features are used, and errors).
- Resend: Sending account emails, such as the welcome email.
- Vercel: Hosting and running the app.
- Upstash: Rate limiting (your account id and request counts).
Article imports
When you import an article link, our server fetches that one public page to extract its text. We don't follow other links or store the page beyond the text you review and keep.
Deleting your data
- Delete any carousel from your dashboard.
- Delete your account from the account page. This deletes your carousels, brand kit, uploads, and files, ends any subscription, and removes your login. Billing records Polar must keep for tax purposes stay with Polar.
- Downloaded files are deleted automatically after 7 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to object to some processing. Email us and we'll help within 30 days.

We use cookies needed to keep you signed in and analytics cookies to understand how the product is used. We don't use advertising cookies.
